Reading, writing and arithmetic aren't the only ways to keep kids' minds sharp — exercise, movement and interactive games are just as important. Maybe more so.
KOAT health expert Dr. Barry Ramo cites Australian researchers whose work has found that exercise has a profoundly positive effect on children's minds.
"Researchers found that moderate intensity activity gave the biggest boost to thinking and memory in both children and teens," Ramo said. "Kids remembered more, focused better and made decisions more easily, whether they were healthy or had conditions like ADHD."
