Police in Fairfield are searching for a woman accused of stealing a puppy from a pet store.

It all unfolded Friday, around 7:21 p.m. when officers responded to the Petland on Dixie Highway for a report of a person running out of the store with a puppy.

According to a police report, the woman allegedly stole a 12-week-old black and white Yorkshire Terrier valued at $4,099 and fled on foot. The woman has not been identified by police.

Petland security cameras captured the alleged incident. Video footage shows a woman running out of the store after allegedly placing the puppy in her purse.
