ALPENA — A northern Michigan High School Principal has been named a finalist for the 2026 Michigan High School Principal of the Year.

Alpena High School Principal Romeo Bourdage is one of three finalists for the award given by the Michigan Association of Secondary School Principals.

Bourdage has spent 35 years in education, including 18 years as an administrator in his 34 years at Alpena Public Schools.

Principals from Southfield and Midland make up the rest of the field of finalists.

The winner of the award will be announced in November.
