EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — Evansville Animal Control officers were able to save the life of a dog that was stuck in tar.

According to the Director of Evansville Animal Care & Control, Missy Mosby, AC Officers McDowell and Pavlicheck acted quickly and bravely to save the dog.

Thanks to the Animal Control Officers, the dog, now named "Venom," is safe and recovering at the EACC facility.

Sgt. Belford with the Evansville Police Humane Unit commended the work of the Animal Control Officers, saying, "On behalf of the Evansville Police Humane Unit, I want to recognize Animal Control Officer Pavlicheck and Officer McDowell for their hard work and heroism today rescuing two dogs, with one on the brink of death, stuck in the tar lot.
