A 69-year-old man was identified as the person fatally struck by a train near Harrisburg International Airport earlier this month , county officials said.
Around 9:30 a.m. Oct. 7, Amtrak police called first responders to the area of Harrisburg International Airport and the Wawa on Route 230 in Lower Swatara Township for a pedestrian struck.
The crash killed Russell Williams Jr., of Harrisburg, according to the county coroner’s office.
Williams’ cause of death was ruled as multiple traumatic injuries due to being struck by a train. The coroner’s office labeled the death accidental.
Amtrak and Norfolk Southern trains were shut down while first responders were in the area.
