A 15-year-old boy has been rushed to hospital after he was stabbed in the back in a Merseyside park this evening.

Police were called to Derwent Drive following reports of the stabbing at around 5.05pm on Sunday (October 19).

It is believed that the boy was stabbed in the back in Ridgewood Park, Wirral. He was rushed to Alder Hey Children's Hospital where he is being treated for a puncture wound on his back.

His condition has been described as serious but stable. A 13-year-old girl has been arrested on suspicion of wounding and assisting an offender and taken into custody where she is being questioned.
