LAWRENCE COUNTY, Mo. — A Lawrence County man has been seriously injured after being followed by police on Saturday, Oct. 18.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) crash report, a 74-year-old Aurora man was injured after a crash around 5:15 p.m. on Route K, five miles north of Aurora, on Saturday.

MSHP states that the incident occurred as the man was driving a maroon 2015 Chevrolet Cruze as he was being pursued by the Aurora-Marionville Police Department.

During the pursuit, the man's vehicle failed to negotiate a curve, travelled off the roadway, and struck a sign, a tree and a fence.

The report indicates that the man was not wearing a seatbelt during the crash.

The man was transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Springfield for his injuries.
