EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (WFSB) - A walk to end Alzheimer’s took place in East Hartford on Sunday morning.

More than 1,000 people came out to Rentschler Field all who helped raise over $400,000, aiding research and support services.

Channel 3’s Renee Dinino and Tracey McCain emceed the event. Both of them knowing the struggles of the disease after losing loved ones to Alzheimer’s.

Right now, about 80,000 people in Connecticut are living with the disease, and everyone who attended Sunday’s walk hopes to find a cure before that number rises.

“Both of my grandparents have this unfortunate disease, one has passed,” said Tricia Burnham. “I also have very close friends who’s fathers have had or have it and we just want to raise awareness and come support the cause.”
