Commuters on the M8 in Lanarkshire have been warned to expect long delays following a four-vehicle crash.

Traffic Scotland says there is a 45-minute delay eastbound following the crash around 7.15am on Monday, October 20, near Harthill .

One lane is blocked on the busy motorway, with traffic currently passing on the other lane slowly. Emergency services are on the scene.

Pictures from Traffic Scotland's cameras show cars and lorries bumper to bumper as traffic slowly approaches the incident.

Traffic Scotland posted on X: "Lane two is currently blocked Eastbound due to a four vehicle collision.

"Traffic can pass in lane one...albeit very slowly.

"Police are now on the scene. Travel time currently is (Appx) 45 mins."

Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
