A four-vehicle collision on the M8 has triggered huge delays for drivers.

The incident, which happened at around 7.15am at junction 5, saw delays of up to 45 minutes. Police were called to the scene on Monday, October 20, with lane two eastbound blocked off.

While the collision happened in South Lanarkshire, tailbacks stretched into West Lothian and motorists were urged 'take care'.

Posting to X, Traffic Scotland said: "NEW.

"07.15am M8 - J5 to J4A Lane two is currently blocked Eastbound due to a four vehicle collision. Traffic can pass in lane one...albeit very slowly.

"Police are en-route....please take care."
