ATLANTA — The Atlanta City Council on Monday will declare it "Malcolm-Jamal Warner Day" in the city, posthumously recognizing the beloved "The Cosby Show" actor who made Atlanta his home.

Warner died in July at 54 years old in a drowning accident in Costa Rica. He was remembered following his death as a beloved bandmate , playing with a group in Atlanta called the Biological Misfits, and devoted family man.

In a proclamation Monday the Atlanta City Council will note that Warner "became an integral presence in Atlanta's creative community" and "was a beloved fixture in the Atlanta arts scene" both for playing with the Biological Misfits and as a poet and podcast host.
