In a brazen Sunday morning robbery at the Louvre in Paris, thieves made off with ‘priceless’ jewels and turned one of the world’s most famous museums into a crime scene.

Several items, including a brooch encrusted with over a thousand diamonds and other jewellery dating back to the 19th century, are still missing.

The French government says the value of the pieces is ‘incalculable’ but broken down the jewels could fetch millions.

French President Emmanuel Macron vows to bring the thieves to justice and says the robbery is an attack on the country’s heritage.

This is what we know about what is being labelled as the ‘heist of the century’.
