A fake baby scandal has rocked a Lanarkshire town over claims that a young mum duped her friends and family into believing a doll was her newborn.

Kira Cousins, from Airdrie , reportadly wore a prosthetic bump before pretending to give birth before trying to pass off a plastic Reborn dolly as a baby girl named Bonnie-Leigh Joyce.

The 22-year-old took to social media to share the announcement of her 'daughter' earlier this month, telling loved ones that she had given birth to 5lbs 4oz Bonnie-Leigh on October 10.
