CHESTER, S.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- A Chester County woman is charged with insurance fraud related to an allegedly false car accident she reported in July.
According to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, 42-year-old Shakita Shawntale Head is accused of presenting a false claim for insurance payment after she and an unknown co-defendant staged a hit-and-run with a child inside the vehicle.
Documents show Head conspired to submit the false claim that included 14 fraudulent medical bills from MUSC Chester Hospital that totaled $24,786. The co-defendant was the driver and reported the staged collision. Head utilized the two occupants in the collision and they allegedly provided false information to the state trooper during the accident investigation.
