Eight local veterans were honored with Quilts of Valor during a ceremony held Oct. 11 at the Central Library. The presentation recognized their service and sacrifice across multiple branches of the U.S. military and several major conflicts.

David Payne – U.S. Army (1965-1967)

Mr. Payne served during the Vietnam era as an administrative clerk at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, where he managed personnel records for his unit. He received the Army Good Conduct Medal and the M14 Rifle Ribbon and was discharged at the rank of E-4.

Donald Teel – U.S. Army (2000-2022)

Mr. Teel’s 22-year Army career spanned Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation New Dawn and Afghanistan. His duty stations included Fort Campbell, Fort Irwin, Fort Benning, Fort Drum, Fort Stewart and Hawaii. He
