Attorneys for ousted District 2 Councilman William Carroll and Councilwoman-elect Samantha Ingram brushed off a judge’s question about the legality of Ingram’s statement of candidacy and re-emphasized conflicting residency laws as the central issue of the case.
On Thursday, Oct. 2, Carroll and Ingram appeared before Mobile County Circuit Court Judge Brandy Hambright roughly one month after Carroll filed a lawsuit against Ingram on the grounds she did not reside in Mobile for one full year before winning his seat on the Mobile City Council in the August municipal election. Ingram previously said she started living on Texas Street in June 2024, but cast a ballot in Georgia’s general election in November 2024.
