The National Weather Service released a high surf advisory at 8:34 p.m. on Monday valid from Tuesday 2 p.m. until Wednesday 5 a.m. for South Central Oregon Coast and Curry County Coast.

"Large breaking waves of 21 to 24 feet in the surf zone," can be expected according to the weather service. "Waves are likely most dangerous during the run up to high tide."

"Sneaker waves can run up significantly farther on beaches than normal, including over rocks and jetties. These waves can suddenly knock people off of their feet and quickly pull them into the cold ocean waters, resulting in serious injury or death.
