More than 21,700 trips have been taken by more than 5,800 riders on the city’s new e-bikes provided by Voi since they were introduced.

The cyclists have covered almost 60,000 kilometres in the city, but now the cycle hire company is ramping up the number of bikes and the area in which they will operate.

From 31 October there will be around 340 e-bikes in total available for hire.

The boundary (which is geo-fenced to guard against theft) will be extended west to include Holyrood Park and Meadowbank and further north taking in Bonnington, Leith and Newhaven. It is planned to roll out the cycle hire scheme to the remainder of the city before the end of the year.
