PARK COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) - A woman was seriously injured after she was hit by a car while trying to flag down help on the side of a highway Sunday night.

According to Colorado State Patrol, the woman was on Highway 285, about 15 miles northeast of Fairplay, when she rolled her Toyota Tacoma pickup. While standing along the side of the road trying to wave down traffic, she was hit by an oncoming vehicle. The driver didn’t stop.

Troopers got the scene at 11:45 p.m. and found the 40-year-old woman suffering serious injuries. She was airlifted to a local hospital; her condition has not been updated as of Tuesday morning.

State Patrol is now calling on the public for help finding the suspect driver or the vehicle. The car is believed to be a black 2011-2014 Volvo S60 with temporary tags. It
