BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) -Central Alabama Water’s board of directors approved three additions to the ongoing Lake Purdy Dam rehabilitation project Monday night, including dye testing to check for seepage and installation of a deep foundation.

The board received an update on the $28 million Phase 1 of the project, which involves installing roller compacted concrete as structural support to strengthen the dam built in 1909 and raised in 1929.

The three approved additions include a dye test to check for seepage pathways, exploration drilling on the left side of the dam, and installing a deep foundation on the right side of the dam.
