ALBANY, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) - One prison guard was convicted while two others were acquitted in a trial following the death of inmate Robert Brooks inside the Marcy Correctional facility near Utica.
Robert Brooks son, Robert Brooks Jr. tells me this is his first time in Albany advocating for prison reform legislation. Telling reporters, he been feeling a mix of emotions.
Robert Brooks Jr. shares, "I'm feeling heartbroken, I feel disappointed"
Robert Brooks Jr. says "Even though we got one guilty on all charges and two acquitted, I feel as the people who were acquitted, they were doing what their supervisors told them to do. So, I can't be totally mad at them, but I'm more mad at the system that allows that to go on."
