ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - The man accused of threatening to “shoot up” the Atlanta airport is now facing federal charges, the U.S. District Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia said.
Billy Joe Cagle, 49, of Cartersville, is accused of making threats on social media to “shoot up” Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
Cagle reportedly livestreamed his plans for the shooting before he got into the airport at around 9:30 a.m. on Monday.
His family alerted Cartersville police, who contacted the Atlanta Police Department. Cagle was taken into custody inside the airport about 10 minutes later.
