SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - The 13th named storm of the season has formed in the south central Caribbean. It is a tropical storm now but could become a hurricane in a few days as it drifts slowly to the north over the next 5 days.
Most models are in sync with the system moving to the north and northeast impacting Haiti and Dominican Republic in about 4 or 5 days from now. The EURO is a little slower and further west initially but does move it toward the NE later in the forecast.
None of the models suggests anything close to Florida due to a couple of cold fronts moving in over the next week or so. These fronts should push the tropical cyclone away from the U.S. out into the open waters of the Atlantic.
