MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The most populous county in Tennessee is showing it is prepared to keep you and your family safe.
Shelby County was one of three counties Tuesday to achieve an "advance designation" for emergency operations plans by the state. That means the county has built a complete plan to prepare for and respond to any emergency. Local hazards, response routes, and resources for storm victims are all part of the county's plan.
The Director of the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency stated, “We are proud to recognize their efforts with this advance designation. Having a strong Basic Emergency Operations Plan (BEOP) in place is essential for saving lives and minimizing the impact of disasters.”
