IOWA CITY (KWWL) – On Saturday, Xavier Nwankpa got a moment he had waited a long time for.

“It felt good honestly. It was really just right place right time,” said the Iowa defensive back during Tuesday’s press availability.

Nwankpa picked off Penn State’s Ethan Grunkmeyer in the second quarter ending a drought that lasted over two years. The Hawkeye senior went 29 games between interceptions, and his only regret for this one is that he brought it back one yard short of the endzone.

“I thought I was going to (score) for sure,” he said, “But I started stumbling at the five-yard line. I tried to give it everything I had to get in there but came up a little short.”
