The police imposed 805 penalties and collected a total of Rs 2.93 lakh during an intensive checking drive conducted across urban and rural areas of the Dehradun district during the festive season. The officials informed that the police had started checking drives earlier this month on the directions of Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh to maintain law and order during festival season. Police teams checked vehicles and individuals moving under suspicious circumstances and took action against those violating traffic rules. A total of 805 vehicle owners were penalised for offences such as driving without number plates or using defective ones.
