GIBSON COUNTY, Ind. (WEHT) -- A presentation on an alleged alien encounter in Hopkinsville was held at the Princeton Public Library.

The talk, led by Charlie Kiesel, took place on Wednesday and is based on books by Geraldine Sutton Stith and her family's stories of the incident.

According to Visit Hopkinsville, the family reported a nearly 4-hour shootout with what they believed were small alien creatures in 1955. This event is now known as the Kelly Hopkinsville Encounter.

"It was more exciting back then, we hear that stuff all the time today, but it definitely was a big story, and almost as famous as Roswell,” says Kiesel. “People find a lot about it on the internet, on Facebook, YouTube, so it's very much out there."
