Ohio House lawmakers advanced Senate Bill 56 on Wednesday, which aims to address concerns around the state's recreational marijuana program.
The bill includes bans on smoking and vaping in public and restrictions on out-of-state purchases. The bill would ban smoking and vaping marijuana everywhere except for a private residence and prohibit the possession of marijuana bought in any out-of-state dispensary. Advertisement
The legislation also caps the amount of THC in certain products and includes new rules for intoxicating hemp, which lawmakers say has long been operating in a legal gray area.
"We are taking care of children," said Rep. Brian Stewart, a Republican from Ashville. "We are saying you can't manufacture products that look like teddy bears and fruit and ca
