A frost advisory was in effect Thursday morning across many Chicago suburbs, with more frost and freezing temperatures expected overnight Thursday into Friday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, the frost advisory Thursday went into effect at midnight for DeKalb, LaSalle, Grundy and Kankakee counties. It will expire at 9 a.m., the NWS said.

Low temperatures overnight in counties to the west and and south were as low as 31 degrees, the NWS said. Overnight Thursday and into Friday morning, temperatures were expected to be even colder, with readings in the 20s.

"Freezing temperatures are expected tonight away from Lake Michigan and the core of the Chicago urban heat island," the NWS said. "Some frost is possible near the lake, mainly away from downtown Chicago."
