MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Shelby County Schools is considering a consolidation plan that could impact nearly a dozen schools.

Frayser will be most affected by the consolidation effort. There are five elementary schools within five miles of each other. This plan closes the two smaller schools (Frayser-Corning and Georgian Hills).

Dozens of jobs at MSCS will be cut if the school consolidation plan is approved, including principals, assistant principals, teachers, librarians, etc. The district has already assigned project managers to help plan some construction projects at Westwood, Mitchell, and Fairley High Schools — these projects still need Board approval. xAI is helping MSCS with these projects.
