HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — The Connecticut Office of the Inspector General (OIG) has ruled that a Hartford police officer was justified in shooting 48-year-old Alexander Garay, according to a report released on Thursday.
Police responded to a report of two individuals engaged in an argument on Broad Street on Nov. 30, 2024, where one of them brandished a firearm and then entered a black Chevrolet Equinox, according to the report. This individual was later identified as Garay.
Officer Gabrielle Arruda pursued the vehicle, which eventually crashed a few blocks away, according to the report.
