A boil water advisory issued earlier this week for Port Deposit has been lifted, officials with the Artesian Water Co. said Thursday.
The Maryland Department of the Environment collected and tested water samples after a valve break on Main Street disrupted service. The company said all samples came back clear, confirming the town’s water supply is safe to use. Residents are being notified that normal water use can resume immediately.
The precautionary advisory was issued Wednesday after a loss of positive pressure in the system. It affected customers of the Port Deposit water system, who were advised to boil tap water used for drinking, cooking and brushing teeth.
Mayor Wayne Tome Jr. said the advisory followed a break in an old water valve on Main Street, an issue he said hasn’t happen
