BELLEFONTE, Pa. (WTAJ) — Less than two weeks away from election day, the Philipsburg-Osceola School District is suing the Centre County Board of Elections.

Back in March 2025, a seat on the school board was vacated. That seat was filled with a temporary replacement who is up in December. According to the lawsuit, the school district wanted the seat to be filled by having names on the ballot, but the county allegedly refused because there was no "written documentation" from the district.

The complaint goes on to claim the school district asked the elections board several times about how to proceed with filling the vacant seat, and a written notice was not mentioned. The district believes it has the "clear legal right" to have the vacant seat on the ballot, and requested "emergency relief"
