SEATTLE — Alaska Airlines said early Friday morning its operations have resumed after it had to ground all its planes for hours because of a "significant" information technology outage.
The airline, which is based in Seattle, said the ground stop was lifted at 11:30 p.m. Pacific (2:30 a.m. Eastern) and they are "working to get our operations back on track as quickly and safely as possible."
The airline said in a statement that 229 flights were canceled because of the outage and that more flight disruptions were expected as it worked to “reposition aircraft and crews.”
"We appreciate the patience of our guests whose travel plans have been disrupted. We’re working to get them to their destinations as quickly as we can," the airline said. It encouraged customers to check their flight statu
