PINE BLUFF, Ark. - The city of Pine Bluff celebrated the grand re-opening of Opportunity House as the shelter goes from part-time to 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Mayor Vivian Flowers and other community volunteers and leaders joined together for this milestone, as they aim to end homelessness in Pine Bluff and bring revitalization efforts to the community.
"We do it because the need is great, especially at a time like this," Flowers said.
Flowers said that with homeless facilities struggling to stay open, the need for food and shelter is on the rise.
To address this issue, city council members approved more funding for Opportunity House, bringing in resting areas, daily meals and services that help people become stable.
