MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Police are searching for a man who threatened to shoot a Midtown gas station employee and stole cigarettes from a gas station on Wednesday
On Tuesday, at 1:30 p.m., officers responded to a robbery at Mapco at 1691 Poplar Avenue.
They said an unknown man went inside and told the employee he did not want to harm her, but would if he had to, while going behind the counter to take items.
According to MPD, he then threatened to shoot her if she did not put down her phone. It does not appear the suspect ever displayed a weapon.
Police said he took several packs of cigarettes and put them in his backpack. He fled the scene and was last seen northbound on North Evergreen Street from Poplar Avenue.
