VERMILION, Ohio (WOIO) - A Vermilion husband was sentenced to nine to 12 years in prison for his role in his 81-year-old wife’s suicide.
After he is released, Michael Krupienski will spend at least two years on parole.
In September, Krupienski pleaded guilty to the charge of involuntary manslaughter.
On Sept. 29, 2024, Vermilion police officers responded to the home of Michael and Marie Krupienski for reports of a suicide.
When they arrived, officers found Marie dead of a self-inflected gunshot wound.
Vermilion Police Chief Chris Hartung said while under the influence of alcohol, Marie apparently voiced suicidal thoughts and Michael gave her a loaded gun.
The national suicide prevention lifeline is 988 and trained counselors are available 24/7.
