MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — The likely cause of a fire that damaged a church in midtown Mobile has been revealed.

According to city officials, a preliminary investigation revealed that the cause behind the 3Circle Church fire was likely an electrical issue in the sanctuary.

The fire started around 12:30 a.m. Thursday, with nearly 50 firefighters responding to the Sage Avenue church to help put out the flames.

Mobile Fire Rescue Department officials said it took about an hour to get the fire under control and several more hours to fully extinguish it.

Firefighters spent much of Thursday monitoring potential hot spots to prevent flare-ups.

Officials said no one was injured.
