SIERRA VALLEY, Calif. — The California Department of Fish and Wildlife recently took a step in wolf management, coordinating with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to lethally remove four gray wolves from the Beyem Seyo pack . This decision followed months of increasing livestock losses in Sierra Valley.
According to the CDFW , between March 28 and September 10, the four wolves were responsible for 70 livestock losses, making up 63% of wolf-related livestock attacks in California during this period. Despite non-lethal efforts, these wolves became accustomed to preying on cattle, posing a threat to both livestock and wolf recovery efforts.
