SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Savannah State defeated Morehouse on homecoming, 24-16, as the defense forced six turnovers at Wright Stadium on Oct. 25.

The defense also had a monster day rushing the passer. Savannah State recorded 10 sacks on the day. Junior defensive lineman Xavier Esquillen recorded five sacks and had six for the game.

The game also marked the first career start for true freshman quarterback RaShawn Truell. The New Hampstead Alum went 13-of-21 for 129 yards one touchdown and no interceptions. His first career touchdown sealed the game in the fourth quarter. Truell found Braylon Fowler from 12 yards out to make the score 24-8.
