RICHMOND HILL, Ga. (WSAV) — The Richmond Hill softball team heads to Columbus with a shot to win the school's first state championship in the sport.
The Lady Wildcats are 19-9 overall. They have not lost a game in the state tournament. In the second round, Richmond Hill went up to North Gwinnett and handled business.
The Lady Wildcats are a bit of an underdog when you look at the bracket. There are perennial powers like East Coweta and Buford, who will be favored, but Richmond Hill is fine with being under the radar.
"I just love seeing all of our sports succeed," head coach Chris Jenkins said. "To go Atlanta where they're expecting to win and to come out of there with two wins was a great feeling."
