SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Over 200 men and women received their annual mammogram across multiple St. Joseph's/Candler locations Monday.
The goal of Mammography Day is to get as many men and women screened in one day. According to Megan Hopf, Manager of Telfair Ambulatory Services, one in eight women are unfortunately diagnosed with breast cancer.
"The earlier it's detected, the higher the success rate of positive treatment outcomes," Hopf said. "We just want to make sure that women are being the best advocate for their best care as possible. We're able to serve the community as a Comprehensive Breast Center of Excellence, and we're really grateful for that."
A total of 242 people received a screened mammogram, and 16 people received a diagnostic mammogram, according to a spokesperson with
