INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) welcomed in a new honorary officer Friday.
IMPD Chief Chris Bailey swore in 12-year-old Owen Griffith.
According to the agency, the opportunity was made possible by Indiana Wish .
Owen is battling a life-threatening form of epilepsy.
His family says one of his wishes has always been to become a police officer, and Friday’s a day he’s been dreaming about since he was a little kid.
Owen visited the IMPD East District Mounted Patrol for his swearing-in, meeting officers and experiencing what it’s like to serve his community.
His mom, Jamie Griffith, said she’s glad Owen got this experience.
