LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - A 41-year-old Guatemalan national, Daniel Zavala Ramos, was extradited to the U.S. to face charges for a tractor-trailer crash that killed over 50 people, including children, and injured more than 100, according to U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Ganjei.
He is expected to appear in federal court in Laredo, Texas, before U.S. Magistrate Judge Diana Song Quiroga. This extradition is part of an investigation by the Justice Department and Guatemalan authorities.
Tomas Quino Canil, Oswaldo Manuel Zavala Quino, Josefa Quino Canil De Zavala, Alberto Marcario Chitic, and Jorge Agapito Ventura are also being charged and are in federal custody.
All six are being charged with conspiracy to bring illegal aliens into the U.S., placing life in jeopardy, causing serious bodily injuries
