CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - A second person has died in a shooting that happened before a kidnapping and car chase that ended with Charlotte-Mecklenburg police shooting and killing the suspect.
Shabazz Mesiah Grant, 34, died from his injuries on Sunday, Oct. 26. He, along with 38-year-old Justin Carlton, was shot on Thursday, Oct. 23, on Hoskins Road . Carlton died at the scene.
The suspected shooter was identified as Joseph Andrade, 28.
According to police, officers were called out to a neighborhood off Hoskins Road around 4 p.m. There, they found Carlton and Grant. Around the same time the first call came in, a home invasion was reported in the same area.
Andrade, police alleged, broke into a house, kidnapped a woman, and stole her car. Officers found the car and a chase began.
