A man was fatally shot in Long Beach, police announced Friday.
Officers were dispatched around 9:45 p.m. Thursday to the 5300 block of Cherry Avenue, two blocks south of Market Street, regarding shots fired, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
The victim was located by the responding officers suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body and was immediately rendered medical aid until the arrival of Long Beach Fire Department paramedics, who took the man to a hospital where he later died.
Detectives have not determined the motive for the shooting.
The victim’s name was being withheld pending notification of relatives.
