CINCINNATI — Jets quarterback Justin Fields put on a brave public face during one of the toughest weeks of his career — a week that saw him get publicly blasted by owner Woody Johnson, and nearly lose his starting job.

But in the middle of it all, Fields insisted he was fine and not struggling with the burden of all the noise and fury that comes with being the Jets’ quarterback at 0-7.

Sunday, after his rollercoaster week ended on the highest note possible, with Fields leading the Jets to an unlikely and remarkable first win of the season, 39-38 over the Bengals, the stoic quarterback revealed that the burden had been tougher to carry than he had let on.
