A 33-year-old Novi man is in custody after stealing an ambulance with a paramedic and patient inside and crashing into another vehicle last week in Northville Township, according to officials.
Erick Zinser, the Novi Police Chief, confirmed that Changlin Li was involved in a one-vehicle rollover crash at the intersection of Novi Road and Ten Mile Road around 3:15 p.m. Friday.
Li was being treated in the back of a Medstar ambulance with multiple other patients then allegedly stole the ambulance with a paramedic and patient inside, the company said in a statement.
Medical personnel were able to track the vehicle throughout the incident and communicated the location with law enforcement.
