Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Sivakumar on Monday said that the Congress party would find it difficult to succeed in the state without the backing of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

The Deputy Chief Minister called Siddaramaiah as a seasoned politician whose support is essential not just for the 2028 elections but for the overall success of the Congress government in Karnataka.

Speaking to CNN-News18 , Shivakumar said, “We need the Chief Minister. We need his support. If health permits, we need him for the future as well. He has served as Deputy CM, Leader of the Opposition, and Chief Minister. Without his blessing and support, Congress will find it difficult."

Shivakumar further noted that he stands by whatever the party high command decides regarding Siddaramaiah’s role.
