WASHINGTON — A 75-foot-tall Norway spruce from the East Greenbush, New York area has been selected as this year's and will be cut down and trucked to New York City next week, .

The tree will be cut on Nov. 6, and will make the 130-mile journey before arriving at Rockefeller Center in midtown Manhattan on Nov. 8, .

This year's tree, estimated to be about 75 years old, is being donated by the Russ family and has served as the backdrop for countless celebrations at their home over the decades, according to Rockefeller Center Magazine.

“I’m excited to make more cherished memories with my family and childhood friends as it becomes the world’s Christmas tree,” Judy Russ, who lives in the historic home with her 7-year-old son, .
